Jessica Sanchez, Age 16, is from Chula Vista, California

Jessica Sanchez is already a regular on stage. She has been singing since she was 2, and by her 7th birthday, she was performing on stage. At the age of 10, she appeared on the music program Showtime At the Apollo, receiving a standing ovation, and prompting Apollo host Whoopi Goldberg to call her back out on stage for a second round of applause.

The next year, Jessica was performing in front of the judges on America’s Got Talent, where she finished as a semi-finalist. Singing Celine Dion’s “I Surrender” her performance caused Producer Simon Cowell to tell the studio audience “she was one the best I have ever heard”.

Jessica has also sang the national anthem before the San Diego Chargers and New York Jets game on ESPN’s Monday Night Football. THat caused her to be called back in 2009 to sing the national anthem when the Chargers hosted the Miami Dolphins.

she has also starred in a national commercial campaign for Cricket Wireless. And she has a video channel on Youtube that has attracted over 21,000,000 views.

Sanchez is of Mexican and Filipino heritage. She was born in San Diego, California. She was home-schooled and has said she believes it is better than going to school because “there is less drama”. Jessica’s maternal grandmother is from Manila and her maternal grandfather is from Bataan. Her mom, Editha, also hails from Bataan, while her dad, Gilbert, is a Mexican-American, who originally hailed from Texas.

Jessica has made the Idol Top 10, and will be on the Idol Summer tour!
