Leon James “Lee” DeWyze, Jr. was born April 2, 1986. Lee is an American singer-songwriter from Mount Prospect, Illinois.

Lee was the winner of the ninth season of American Idol, winning the final top 2 against runner up Crystal Bowersox.

DeWyze formed the Lee DeWyze Band prior to American Idol, during which time he released two independent albums called So I’m Told in 2007 and Slumberland in 2010. Both were released on WuLi Records. After winning American Idol, he released an album Live It Up on November 16, 2010, on the 19 Entertainment and RCA Records labels. He also plans to release a third album of pre-Idol recordings, What Once Was, on February 14, 2012, again on the WuLi label.
