I don’t think one can say that without braking down each one’s individual talent.Randy had the luxary of having 5 older brothers to learn from and bounce off of. he also had the luxery of growing up in better environment and having more advantages than the older brothers. Also people tend to ignore the athletism of both jermaine and Jackie when they talk about talent. Both brothers were training for a place in the baseball team. jackie was already selected for college baseball. These are talents

I actually agree with you. Very well rounded talent.
Randy has a good voice and lots of natural talent. but its the look and sound. it is void of identity. you cant differentiate his tracks from Shanice Wilson’s “Smile” CeCe Pendington “Walk on” and the rest of that newjack, Arsenio era, synthetic crap of that time. He had the name and the juice to carve out something more dynamic and original, but chose to play it safe. and if you ask me,..gay. it was out of touch with what was really happening on the street. and thats why it bricked..
If you really look at it , Randy is the most talented out of the Jackson kids, Michael being second.

Why did this song/ group do so poorly on the charts. I listened to samples of all the songs on the CD and most of them are pretty good. Randys voice was strong. He didnt sing a lot of false setto and he had great range and control. Was it marketing? Its a shame because I think out of all the Jackson Brothers, Randy was #3 as the strongest singer. I wonder if he could still come out with some new music..

You’re right. From what I can see here, Randy had the best chance of making it on his own but he would’ve needed his more famous brother’s backing. He didn’t get it, so he failed. Either this was because Mikey Jack figured he had better things to do or because Randy was too proud to ask for and/or receive the offer for help. I don’t think we’ll ever know for sure but here we are.
Bobby Brown had a song like this on his Roni album from the same New Jack/Swing Beat period.
Chorus: “”I really love you girl”" A better song than this, though this isnt bad.
