Some rappers like to party or put the kind of grandiose gangsta themes in their music because it’s a striking contrast to the reality of living in the “hood.” It’s people’s dreams. Today’s rap isn’t shit, but today’s rap is what black people likely listen to. That’s probably why you don’t like it. In any case, there’s intellectual shit like Aesop Rock and Atmosphere if you’re too racist.
