Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez Announced That They’re Quitting American Idol According to TMZ, Steven Tyler announced (June 13th) that he’s not returning to American Idol’s next season. He completed two seasons of the show. He states that after long, hard thoughts, he decided to let the show go. He said that he strayed from his first love, “Aerosmith” and that he’s dedicating the next few years to his band. He also adds that the band coming out with a new album on November 6th. Simon Cowell even stated, “I completely understand his desire to get back to his life as the singer in America’s greatest-ever rock band. American Idol will miss him!” Jennifer Lopez just announced (June 13th) that she is quitting American Idol, as well. According to TMZ, she telephoned Ryan Seacrest and informed him of her departure. She states that, “I honestly feel like the time has come that I have to get back to doing the other things that I do.” It is rumored that Randy Jackson may not be returning as a judge, but will be a mentor to the singers.
