“Sweet Emotion” was a song by American rock band Aerosmith. It was released on May 19, 1975 as the first single from the band’s breakthrough smash album “Toys In The Attic.” The song began a string of pop hits and large-scale mainstream success for the band that would continue for the remainder of the 1970s. The song was written by lead singer Steven Tyler and bassist Tom Hamilton. “Sweet Emotion” was released as a single in 1975, and peaked at #36 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the band’s breakthrough single and the first Top 40 hit for the band. The day it hit #36 on the US chart, July 19, 1975, Aerosmith was booked at a gig in New York City’s Central Park, called the Schaefer Music Festival. The song was so successful that the band decided to ride the heels of its success and re-release their first single, “Dream On”, which had originally charted at #59 in 1973. The re-released version went on to hit #6, the highest chart performance in the 1970s for the band. The song has been included on almost every Aerosmith compilation and live album and is frequently cited as Aerosmith’s ‘signature song’, including in the “World Almanac And Book Of Facts”, and regularly competes with “Dream On” and “Walk This Way” for the title of Aerosmith’s ‘signature song’ elsewhere. It is often included on ‘greatest song’ lists or ‘greatest rock song’ lists, including a ranking of #416 on Rolling Stone magazine’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. It was also one of the songs Aerosmith …

There has been much discussion lately about the fact that American Idol is losing it’s fan base. Much of that discussion centers around feelings that the show has gotten formulaic, pedestrian, predictable and simply mundane. Tonight’s performances, at least the first one hour and forty-one minutes of the two-hour show, proved that discussion to be [...]
Last night, the American Idol top 13 competed in regular competition for the first time. And what a night it was! In a change from previous years, the boys and the girls participated in one night. There were a couple of stellar performances, a couple of major disappointments, and a whole lot of Karaoke. For [...]
America has spoken. Last night, America spoke (strangely sounding just like Ryan Seacrest). In a two hour long paring down of the final 25 into the final 13, tears were shed, hearts were broken, and, in 13 cases, dreams were sustained. Having so much to do, the show was fast paced, and, unusually, focused entirely [...]
Top 12 girls sing for their dinner – They were eating light tonight. Starting girl’s night out was Chelsea Sorrell singing Carrie Underwood’s hit “Cowboy Casanova.”. Though the song was Carrie Underwood’s, the performance fell far short of Carrie. Growling her way through her performance Chelsea was notable mostly for the notes she did [...]
Well, the first night of the Idol competition has passed, the boys have sung, and the judges have crooned. The night started out slowly as Adam Brock chose to sing Aretha Franklin’s “Think”. A mediocre job, but OK. Deandre Brackensick, did Earth, Wind & Fire’s “Reason.” In a falsetto that was at once annoying and [...]
Well, now it’s America’s turn. Last Thursday, the judges, amid many tears, many teasers, and with ruthless determination, whittled the top 42 candidates down to the top 24 – plus one, yet-to-be-named male for good measure. This is the last round of auditions, and the last time the judges have the final say. Beginning next [...]
